1st week out in the mission field

Tuesday:

Only cried a little bit saying goodbye and the flight was super quick. I'm in north Las Vegas for a couple months until I get my visa for Ecuador if anyone is confused. Anyway I got off the plane and went to baggage claim and that was where some random guy was waiting for me and he took me to the mission office. Totally forgot his name but he was cool haha. The mission president talked to us and then I met my companion/trainer for at least the next 6 weeks. He's dope but I'll get into that later. We drove to our apartment and I quickly unpacked and then went straight to some lessons with people elder Rosborough and his last companion have been teaching.

Wednesday:

Morning was rough I got pretty homesick a few tears might have been shed haha.  But like I said Elder Rosborough is epic so he helped me through it and we ended up having an awesome day. I just need to focus on what's next everyday and not look at the big picture or else that's when I get overwhelmed. We met with Paipa and Nia who requested lessons from the missionaries. They have 11 kids and the first 5 have been baptized but they stoped going to church for a long time and they realized how much their relatives families and life's are blessed when they are following the commandments and going to church and he realizes that he needs to start going and they want all 6 of their kids baptized once the youngest one turns 8 in February.

Thursday:

Another rough morning but I got over it. I realized how perfect Edler Rosborough is for me and how God definitely put him in my life for a reason. He lets me do things on my own and let's me try to lead lessons but doesn't just throw me in the deep end. He has perfect answers to my questions.

Friday:

Beatrice and Dustin are a couple who we've been meeting with for a while.  She just broke her arm in 3 places but she got a priesthood blessing and she said the next few days after the blessing her pain went down dramatically and she was so grateful for us. We invited them to be baptized and they are getting baptized the 27th of this month!

Saturday:

We were going to go on a run this morning but I didn't sleep well at all because Elder Rosborough wouldn't stop snoring. We helped Clarissa clean her house which just flooded and she was so touched that we were willing to help when her family and friends wouldn't even help her. She found out that all of the people she works with are member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints too and that they are really nice people and she wants to learn more about our church.

Sunday:

Our area covers 2 church meetings but they are at the same time so we have to alternate every other Sunday but I'm meeting so many good people.

Sorry this is a terrible email I don't have much time and I don't think I'm going to describe each day it doesn't work well for me. Anyways I've never had a more impactful week in my entire life. I'm learning soooo much. I'm earning how to buy food and plan meals and what meals are cheap but healthy, haha. I'm learning how to talk to anyone I see wherever it may be and not get nervous. Learning so much about the scriptures and about Jesus Christ. My faith and testimony are growing so much. There are so many good people out there with such simple but strong faith. The people I'm supposed to be teaching end up teaching me more and strengthening my testimony even more. We have been teaching this guy named Allen he's like 22 and he just finished the Book of Mormon and he said that every time he reads he feels this sense of comfort and organization in his life which I love because thats how I feel every time I read. I'm so sorry this is a terrible terrible email there's so much more that's happened but I'm trying to type it on my phone but I'll get a key board. And I'll take better notes throughout the week.

I would invite anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or struggling in anyway to read a couple pages of the Book of Mormon. Ive seen it bless me throughout my whole life but now I'm able to see soooo many other people gain a testimony of it themselves and see it bless there life's and give them lasting peace and comfort when everything else they've tried only comforts them temporarily. Anyway next week will be a way better email. Love you guys thank you for all the support. Have a good week!!!

 Dear Parents,

Elder Roskelley arrived here in Las Vegas safe and sound. We are so happy to finally meet him!

We love your missionary so much and look forward to seeing him do great things as he works hard every day to fulfill his missionary purpose. He has been assigned a wonderful trainer who will work and train with love, patience, charity, and empathy.

Thank you for sharing Elder Roskelley with us and the wonderful people in the Nevada Las Vegas Mission.
